Walmart has recalled about 4.48 million Expert Grill metal-bristle brushes, giving backyard cooks a reason to check their cleanup tools before the next meal. The October 1 notice covers products sold over several years, including a brush packaged in a larger grilling kit. The CPSC recall notice identifies the affected models and the refund process.

The concern is a loose bristle reaching food. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s notice says metal wires can separate from a brush, remain on the grill or food, and cause serious internal injuries if swallowed. Some injuries could require surgery. The notice lists no reported incidents or injuries, a distinction worth preserving alongside the warning.

Five model numbers are included. Look on the packaging or the brush’s attached sticker or tag:

EX5607031616002: 16-inch steel-fiber scrub brush and scraper, distributed January 2025–August 2026

EX5607031616003: handheld steel-fiber scrub brush with ergonomic handle, distributed January 2025–August 2026

XG1310700206: 21-inch, three-head brush with stainless-steel bristles, distributed January 2022–August 2026

XG1136178597003: 17.7-inch long-handle brush with scraper, distributed January 2021–August 2026

XG1410700124: 10-piece stainless-steel grilling-tool kit, distributed December 2023–August 2026

The brushes were sold from January 2021 through August 2026, with individual models entering distribution at different points. Prices ranged from $1 to $28. WHTM’s same-day report, carried by AOL, also identifies the five numbers and the stop-use instruction.

Owners should stop using an affected brush and contact Walmart for a full refund or credit usable in a Walmart store or at Walmart.com. The company will ask owners to return or discard it. Walmart’s contact number is 800-925-6278; the published recall-contact hours are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Central, Monday through Friday.

A useful first step is to photograph the identifying tag before contacting the retailer. If the tool came from a mixed collection or a secondhand kit, compare it with the official notice rather than relying on memory of the purchase. The practical takeaway for this weekend is simple: identify the model, set an affected brush aside, and follow the retailer’s remedy instructions before using it again.
